Oh NaNo, how close you are!
First let me say, I am behind on my original plan…
…which was to talk about my plan for NaNo
…talk about some ideas I have for my story
…talk about how awesome my notebook is
…but of course it’s been a busy last few days.
So, an update post it is!
Plan for NaNoWriMo
The basics of this (because I want to get more detailed in a bigger post) is I want to share my NaNoWriMo experience with my fans, family, friends and other NaNoNites. So how will I do this? ….wait for the bigger post…
Ideas for My Story
Well, to start, the title of my novel I will be writing is:
“I Brought Home A Ghost”
This will actually be fulfilling an idea of mine for one of the stories that I want to write–“A story of a young boy who befriends a ghost…”–that was a part of my looking for more time to write and to be creative post. The story has definitely shifted, though, in terms of the phrase above.
Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect from my NaNo novel:
- Three timelines, ranging from the years 1835 to 2012.
- A ghost story woven through the different timelines of characters with separate journeys for each timeline.
- Not one story at a time…completely braided together. Literally. Three timelines, one over the other.
- Multiple European countries. Multiple ethnicities.
This is as much as I want to give…I don’t want to name the who or where or why (of course, that’s the good stuff). Will I give more before we get there? …maybe…
As per the rules of NaNoWriMo, no writing can be done until midnight on November 1st, so I won’t be able to add an excerpt yet. BUT if all goes well, and I write my “bigger post” of how I want to share my experience, then you won’t be missing out on anything.
How Awesome My Notebook Is
Pretty awesome, actually. I have continued to write within its pages about NaNoWriMo. My timeline, years of age, and other important factors have been created (as you can see a slight peek of on the last page in the picture below).
This amazing notebook of mine has traveled with me everywhere for a while now. It sits next to me at work and reminds me of the creativity sitting within its pages…
Its drawn pages that lead to its written and blanked…
The many more places to add and subtract and create and enjoy…
A notebook made for the mind of creative or even the mind of random…
….yea, sorry, got all creative as I thought about how awesome this book is.
So back to my updates…
As you may have seen on the right-side of my website, I have my official NaNoWriMo Participant badge available for all to see, followed by my will-be Word Count. This will show my progress every day as I add my words into the NaNo bucket for my novel. If you want to see my NaNoWriMo profile, you can click on either picture, and it will take you there.
New Writing Software
Scrivener. That’s all I will say. Bigger post for that one to come soon, too.
And the countdown continues…
Enjoy. And Reed.
