Why Eon Reed?

I have friends (two exactly) who have asked me why I am using the name Eon Reed. For those of you who do not know me, my real name is Miscelleana Rhinehart; so seeing this other (much much) shorter name creates a question: why Eon Reed?

In my “About Me” section, I give a glimpse of my sci-fi novel series. I have created a planet (which lies in a state of chaos for most of its modern life) called Eon. She is an archaic, wise being; wonderfully plentiful of life and love; accepting of all life that would want to visit; and, most importantly, about to be injured by the force of a distant planet in an adjacent galaxy.

All (save for the last with her destruction) are qualities that are respected and beautiful. I aspire to have them. So it came to be that I chose Eon as my first name. Truth is though I chose the last name first.

I have been reading since I was in elementary school (Patton Elementary for those who enjoy details). I was always facinated with the words creating images in my mind. You could visit any author’s imagination and visit anywhere they could take you. I am now and always shall be a bibliophile (a person who loves to collect books). Also, realizing I wanted to keep my rhotic (my ‘r’) for my puedo last name I made the logical decision and chose “Read” and with my artistic, subliminal change to “Reed” my last name was finalized. Every time my name is read I am telling the reader to reed. I mean read.

Well, there is my answer. Eon Reed is a combination of my passion for books and language and what I deem important in the journey of life (kind of corny but true).

So remember to enjoy and reed.
